There is a lot going on in the world. A lot. And you can’t control most of it. It’s getting to us. Let’s not even discuss it.
Instead, I’d like to suggest that you exercise some control over something totally within your power - reimagining your living space.
This came to mind as I looked at the landing at the top of our stairs, where we used to have a couple of comfortable chairs and a lot of plants in front of a very large plate glass window. The meadow view is lovely and chairs seemed to make sense.
But we seldom sit there.
I had to move everything in preparation for pulling up some old carpet, and seeing the space empty made me realize there are lots of different ways to use that space…or not use it.
It could be a great spot for an office/jigsaw puzzle table. It could be a sewing/craft area. I would even be a good spot to leave empty, with only plants.
I’m leaning toward the puzzle table and one comfortable chair. But first I’m going to try the plants. Maybe having one truly empty space might feel liberating in a crooked old farmhouse.
A person could do yoga there, in fact.
In my own house, at least, I can do anything.
