The Autumn Lull
Everything about 2020 is unexpected, at least so far.
I think it’s safe to say few of us expected the spring shutdown.
Realtors in upstate New York expected there to be a rush on properties once the shutdown lifted, but few of us expected that rush to begin even before that.
And now we’ve hit the traditional autumn lull. I certainly don’t know what to expect.
The beginning of the school year usually creates a bit of a pause in home shopping. And so far, it seems like even virtual school is having that effect.
It used to be that if a house hadn’t sold by autumn, sellers dropped the price or at least got more open to hearing lower offers.
I don’t know if that will be true this year. I think the demand for upstate properties is going to continue throughout the winter. And most sellers seem to think so, too.
But nobody knows. Nobody knows for sure about just about everything right now.
It’s a strange time, for sure.
